Introducing Mikaela

After featuring a line-up of high-heel booties by some of Spain’s most iconic brands, I’ve been asked whether there are any slightly lower heel options that are also high-quality and stylish. The answer is:

Here is Mikaela, not a subsidiary of Apple, but a shoe brand from Elche, Alicante, that makes it its mission to create pretty and well-made shoes in which a girl can hit the ground running feeling stylish and well-put together, without having to take heed of His Majesty The Heel.

As a brand, Mikaela is young (founded in 2001), but the shoe making expertise of the founders goes back to the 1960s. In Elche high-level footwear manufacturing goes without saying. In the words of the witty Spanish shoe blog “Los Zapatos de Dorita” (“Dorothy’s Shoes”): “I dare you to stroll through Elche and catch a single local wearing badly made shoes.”

Mikaela‘s philosophy is to create high-quality shoes for fun-loving, independent urban women, who are comfortable making their own decisions about how to be and what to wear. Mikaela encourages any woman to “Walk Her Way”.

Even though Mikaela has been successfully exporting its collections to Australia and Northern Europe, it is not available in the US as of yet. I’m told that there are retailers in Canada that carry the brand, so I have some homework to do. Mikaela does have its own online shop, which they hope will soon offer international delivery. Stay tuned!

Here are some booties that I found on Mikaela’s website:

So cute! I don’t know which pair I want more. The price point of the shoes is also considerably more moderate than that of the high-fashion brands. Mikaela shoes retail on average around $USD80-100, not including sales.

And finally, here is a ballerina flat in khaki suede from their current Fall-Winter collection that I absolutely love! MikaelaAnteVerdeKhakiMikaela Ante-verde-kaki1

    1. The brand is pretty young, but they are working to get more recognition abroad. Their shoes are great, and not “comfort shoe” great, but really.
