Sparkling Shoes for a Happy New Year

New Year's festivities bring to light lots and lots of sparkling shoes. Practically all women's shoe brands use glitter in their winter models, presenting them as perfect party heels. It is not very easy to stand out in this crowd, but some brands do. The one brand that I always single out when it comes to sparkling shoes is RAS.

My Maians

I have decided to sum up my experience with the Maians brand for you. I have written about this Barcelona-based, ancient seaport inspired casual footwear producing company several times. Since first posting about it, I have now amassed a small collection of Maians shoes, purchased through different channels.

Shoe of (last) Week: Las Bailarinas Shoes

Last week I did not post a "Shoe of the Week", and not for lack of candidates, obviously. I've got so many, in fact, I have a hard time choosing.

Everything is Peachy

Peach is a warm color - a promise of spring, which is timidly arriving in our snow kingdom of Canada. I saw these really cute peach ballet flats by the brand Penelope on YOOX.COM (at a great price, too). I think that they would go really well with my peach-colored sweater by Gigue.

A Mikaela Debut

Finally, I got an opportunity to wear my new pointy toe T-strap ballet flats by Mikaela. I got them on YOOX.COM and they were an incredible deal. I'm really fond of this brand. Mikaela specializes in casual shoes that have a very distinct charm - the type that makes the no fuss, put on in a hurry type of shoes a real pleasure to wear.

Shoe of the Week

Our first Shoe of the Week is by the Madrid-based Defloresyfloreros - a company that specializes in ballet flats, but also makes boots and loafers. Their ballet flats are high quality, original, flirtatious, and gorgeous, each with its own distinct personality.

The Three Magic Kings

Happy New Year! The Three Magic Kings are knocking on the door again, so I'd better get my wish list in. This time it's two pairs of ballet flats and an awesome pair of tights designed in Barcelona.

Shoe Size Conversion or Trying Spanish Shoes On For Size

Shoe size conversion from Europe to North America is a really tricky issue and an especially important one for anyone who shops online. How will we know that the shoe will fit? As a truly universal shoe size conversion chart still does not exist, we have to rely on personal experience, the retailers themselves (YOOX does tell you, for example, if a brand tends to fit small or large for the size indicated, so that you order up or down a size, accordingly) and on the blogosphere, of course.
